The Evolution of Men's Wear

Traditionally, the male outfit worn in Dominica resembles that of the colonials, that is white long sleeved shirt, jacket, waistcoat, hat and a cane. Accessories included a gold watch, gold cuff links and gold tie pin.

Typically, compared to that of the creole women, the male outfit evolved at a much slower rate. As custom became less strict over time, the male outfit lost some of its layers and dwindled to a white shirt, black trousers, black or madras tie, red sash or cummerband and or bowtie, and black socks and shoes.
