The Head Wear

A brightly coloured headpiece could be replaced with a madras cloth which would be folded in a special way. Each fold had a meaning.

One fold, "che mwe ouve" translates to ‘my heart is open’

Two folds, "che mwe engage, mais ou sa pon yon chance" translates to ‘my heart is engaged but you can take a chance’.

Three folds, "che mwe pon deja" translates to ‘my heart is already taken’.

Four folds, "mwe ni yon place pou tout yo ki vie mwe" translates to ‘I have a place for whoever desires’.
